Roped In depicts a fisherman at work by the sea. Painted in acrylic and ink on a vintage depth chart of the Cape coastline, the work brings together two stories. The first is the fisherman himself, absorbed in the familiar task of gathering and coiling rope. The second lies beneath the paint: a navigational chart once used to understand and traverse these waters. Together they create a layered narrative about place, livelihood and our enduring relationship with the ocean.
